Winona State gymnasts set to compete this weekend at NCGA Nationals

WINONA, Minn. - On Saturday, March 26, four Winona State University gymnasts will begin their pursuit of a 2022 National Collegiate Gymnastics Association (NCGA) individual event National Championship. 

Held at Ithaca College in Ithaca, New York, the 2022 NGCA National Championships will feature six teams and 24 individual qualifiers from across the country.  Among the 24 student-athletes competing as individuals are four Winona State standouts.

Bryce Stoltz and Kaitlyn West are each set to compete in the NCGA All-Around competition.  In the event, Stoltz and West will face four other individuals competing in the all-around, including WIAC foe Brooke Merila of Gustavus Adolphus.  Kennedy O'Connor will pursue a national championship in the vault, while Izzy Kropiwiec is scheduled to compete in the floor exercise as one of seven individual competitors.  

At Ithaca, the NGCA Championships are set to begin at 2 p.m. EST in the Ben Light Gymnasium.  Tickets are available for purchase in person on Friday, March 25 from 9 am – 4 pm in the IC Hill Center and will be available at the doors to the venue, which will open at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. According to the Ithaca College website, all spectators must be masked regardless of vaccination status.

First-year head coach Stephanie Geislinger, a former NCGA All-American as a student-athlete at WSU, will guide the Warriors in their first trip back to the NCGA Nationals after a two-year absence due to the pandemic in 2020 and 2021.
