KANSAS CITY - The Winona State University men's basketball team opened up the 2023-24 season 1-0, pulling away from the University of Arkansas Monticello for the 62-46 victory.
Connor Dillon paced Winona State with 23 points, going 9-of-17 from the field, including 3-for-5 from behind the arc. Dillon also led WSU in rebounds with six.
Connor Drew added 19 points to the Warrior effort, with an impressive 5-of-7 night from 3-point territory.

As a team, WSU shot 23-of-44 (52.3%) from the floor and was 8-of-19 (42.1%) from 3-point territory. The Warriors knocked down 8-of-11 (72.7%) free throws on the night. Winona State held Arkansas Monticello to a 27.6% shooting clip (16-of-58) and out-rebounded the Boll Weevils, 36-31 in the contest.Â
Winona State (1-0, 0-0 NSIC) will face Southern Arkansas University tomorrow night in the final game of the 2023 Central Region Challenge. The Warriors and Muleriders will tip off at 7 p.m.
