WINONA, Minn. - The Winona State University volleyball team honored their parents and families prior to their match against MSU Moorhead on Friday, Nov. 3. The Warrior faithful in attendance saw an intense Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) match that featured a back-and-forth effort from both teams on the floor.
In the end, Winona State rallied past the Dragons, falling in the opening set but then taking three straight for the Warrior win.

How It Happened
Set one saw a slow start for Winona State and the visiting MSUM Dragons took advantage to win the opening stanza 25-19.
Gianna Vollrath and
Lydia Lange delivered back-to-back kills for Winona State to close the mid-set score gap to 14-10. Both assists were credited to
Jaci Winchell, but the visitors would pull away for the 25-19 win.
In the second stanza, Winona State hit the reset button and earned a 25-19 victory. A seven-point run allowed WSU to pull ahead after being down 8-5 early on. Two kills by
Kenna Kornely and a
Rylee Vaughn service ace paced the Warriors to the 25-19 final set score.
The third set required to big Warrior point streaks, first a five-point stretch that allowed WSU to take a narrow 8-6 lead and then a six-point series to end the set at 25-20. Kornely again was a contributing factor, racking up two kills in the final six points while
Lydia Lange added the first kill to start the streak with the teams tied 20-20.
In the fourth and final frame, Winona State took control from the outset, pulling away from the Dragons with a 25-20 win.
Sidney Paulson notched the first kill of the set for WSU and
Jayda Berg closed out the contest with a kill following an assist from
Ashlyn Steding.

Kenna Kornely all had 12 kills apiece.
Rylee Vaughn collected two aces, 25 digs and 10 assists.
Ashlyn Steding had 26 assists.
Taylor Pagel had 3 blocks.
Beyond the Boxscore
Steding's 26 assist were a season high for the freshman from Victoria, Minn.
WSU has now won 13 straight matches over MSU Moorhead.
