Winona, Minn. – The Winona State volleyball team swept the BSU Beavers in their final match of the 2025 regular season.
Winona State started off hot, winning the first set and continued to dominate the match in the last two sets. With high intensity on both offense and defense, the Warriors would take the second and third set to secure the win.
How it Happened:
The Warriors started off hot in the first set hitting an electric .414 while minimizing their mistakes, having only two attacking errors on 29 attempts. WSU was also able to steal four services aces to aid them in their first set win with a score of 25-17.
Winona State's offense continued to dominate in the second set out hitting the Beavers .342 to .152 allowing for a 25-18 set victory. In the third and final set, the Warriors were able to finish strong and hold BSU to a .071 hitting percentage winning 25-21.
Statistical Comparison:
- Abby Ongna grabbed 13 kills along with 2.5 blocks, followed closely by Gianna Vollrath (11) and Kenna Kornely (9).
- Ashlyn Steding dished out 16 assists to lead the team and was followed by Jaci Winchell with 15.
- Anna Hennessy led the floor in total digs with 16.
- The Warriors hit .311 in the match and held the Beavers to just .164 hitting.
- Winona State had seven blocks compared to BSU's four.
- WSU outplayed BSU in every statistical category including, kills (43), aces (7), assists (36) and digs (50).
The Winona State Warriors women's volleyball team will finish their 2025 regular season with a record of 16-12 overall and 11-9 in the NSIC.
