WINONA, Minn. - The Winona State University gymnastics team concluded the home regular-season portion of their 2023 schedule in a triangular match on Thursday, March 2, hosting Simpson College and the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire in McCown Gymnasium, home of WNB Financial Court.
The host Warriors finished as the runner-up, scoring 184.725 points as a team, just behind first-place UW-Eau Claire with 185.100 and ahead of third-place Simpson College at 182.775.
Individually, Winona State had three event champions on the night, with
Izzy Kropiwiec and
Taryn Sellner tying atop the leaderboard in the Floor Exercise with identical 9.650 scores. Simpson's Emma Tolbert took third on the floor with a score of 9.525.
Winona State's
Kennedy O'Connor - the NCGA defending national champion in the Vault - won the Vault on Thursday with a score of 9.625. Simpson's Kaelyn Tally took runner-up honors with a 9.550 while WSU's
Breanna Ho was third with a score of 9.475.
On the Beam, UW-Eau Claire claimed the top two spots with Liliana Shank (9.550) and Tia Ravara (9.450) finishing first and second, respectively. Winona State saw
Taryn Sellner claim third place with a 9.425.
Winona State took two of the top three places on the bars, with
Kaylee Bateman and
Breanna Ho earning runner-up finishes at 9.175. UW-Eau Claire's Harriet Toth won the event with a score of 9.325.
In the All Around, UW-Eau Claire's Harriet Toth took top honors with a score of 37.350, while Winona State claimed second and third place, with
Breanna Ho earning a 37.000 score and
Jessica Miley taking third at 36.400.
Next up for Winona State and head coach
Stephanie Geislinger will be the WIAC Championships / NCGA West Regionals, set for Saturday, March 11 at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh. The event is scheduled for a 4 p.m. start time in the Kolf Sports Center.
