FAYETTE, Iowa - The Winona State University softball team opens NSIC play today, Tuesday, March 28 on the road at Upper Iowa University. The Warriors and Peacocks will see first pitch at 2pm in Fayette, Iowa.
Winona State (17-8, 0-0 NSIC) has won two of their last three contests and hold a 24-4 advantage over UIU in their last 28 meetings, dating back to April 18, 2009. Upper Iowa comes into Tuesday's matchup with a 8-10 overall mark and most recently split with Truman State University, losing to TSU 9-1 but recovering to win game two, 10-3. Tuesday's contests are the NSIC opener for both teams.

WSU has won two of their last three, including at 6-4 win over Missouri Southern most recently on March 19.
Abbie Hlas leads the Warriors in batting average (.371), doubles (9), and hits (33).
Carly Engelhardt leads Winona State in slugging percentage (.575), triples (2), and home runs (3).
Logan Anderson and Corinna Loshek both are 1-1 in stolen base attempts this season.
Engelhardt has the most Warrior RBI on the year with 19, while Marissa Mullen have collected 15 RBI so far.
In the circle, Abby Smith is 9-2 on the year and Abbie Hlas is 7-4.
Smith has earned a 1.42 ERA on the year while Hlas checks in at 1.96.
