Match Recap: Women's Tennis | | Joey Mueller, Athletic Communications

WSU women's tennis picks up 6-1 victory over Seton Hill

COCO BEACH, Fla. – The Winona State University women's tennis team moved to 5-1 on the season after defeating Seton Hill University in Coco Beach, Fla. this afternoon.
 
The Warriors handed the Griffins a 6-1 defeat, as WSU swept doubles play and earned two three-set victories in singles.
 
Winona State's No. 3 doubles team of Miranda Daulong and Maddie Moe didn't give up a game, winning 6-0, to set the tone for the Warriors. WSU then took the top two doubles spots by scores of 6-3 to earn the doubles point.
 
Beth Murman was the first one off the court, winning by a score of 6-2, 6-2 at the top singles position. Clara Thoemke took care of business at No. 4 singles, earning a 6-3, 6-1 victory. Daulong clinched the win for Winona State with a dominating 6-2, 6-1 victory at No. 5 singles.
 
Rachel Kelly and Ally Burger each were able to complete comebacks after dropping their opening sets. Kelly, at No. 2 singles, lost the first set 6-4 but won the second set 6-3 and completed the comeback with a 10-8 super tiebreaker. Burger lost the opening set in a tiebreaker before winning set number two 6-3 and then the super tiebreaker 10-6 to complete the 6-1 victory for Winona State.
 
The Warriors have an off day tomorrow and will be back in action on Wednesday, March 8 for a two matches. WSU takes on University of Tampa at noon EST and California University of Pennsylvania at 3pm EST. Both matches are in Orlando, Fla.
