Warrior Game Day : Softball

Wayne, Neb. – The Winona State University softball team will travel to Wayne State College for a  NSIC doubleheader on Tuesday, April 18. Games are scheduled for 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. in Wayne, Nebraska.

Winona State has won 14 straight over Wayne State, a streak dating back to March 31, 2015. 
 
Winona State Storylines
The Warriors are 28-11 overall and 11-3 in the NSIC.
Abbie Hlas leads the Warriors in batting average (.372) and is tops in the NSIC in both hits and at-bats.
Carly Engelhardt leads Winona State in OPS (1.128), slugging percentage (.672), and home runs (9).
Abby Smith is 13-4 on the year in the Warrior circle, while Abbie Hlas is 11-5 overall.

Wayne State College Storylines
The Wildcats are 10-30 overall and 5-12 in league play.
Riley Holmberg leads WSC with a .401 batting average.
Holberg has a team-high 55 hits in 137 at bats.
Lauren Laudick has five home runs and six doubles on the season.
WSC's top pitcher is Samantha Felt at 4-13 overall. 

WARRIOR NOTABLES
Abby Smith threw her first career no-hitter earlier this season in a win over Concordia St. Paul. 
Winona State standout Abbie Hlas was named the 2023 NSIC Preseason Player-of-the-Year by coaches around the league. 
Head coach Greg Jones entered the 2023 NCAA Division II season 13th among active coaches in victories (891) and seventh in winning percentage (.747) and reached the 900-career win milestone at The Spring Games in March.
Winona State has made 15 NCAA Division II Tournament appearances as a program, all with Jones at the helm.
