EAU CLAIRE, Wis. - The Winona State University track and field team competed at the Dick and Mary Johnson Invitational hosted by the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire on Friday, April 28.
Leading the Warriors was
Courtney Lukas who claimed top honors in the women's 200 meters at 25.89 and was second overall in the women's 100 meters, running a time of 12.51.
Also winning a championship for Winona State was
Bellamy Sukalski, running a 4:55.41 in the 1500-meters, narrowly beating Warrior teammate
Mara Talabac, who finished second with a time of 4:56.44.
The 5000-meters saw Winona State claim the top three spots, with
Rachel Hoffman winning the event with a time of 18:39.26, while
Kylie Anderson was second at 18:39.29. WSU's
Madeline Palmer took third at 18:42.58.
Regan Feit won the women's 400-meter hurdles, running a top time of 1:03.41 and
Rhya Brandemuehl was the runner-up in the 3000-meter steeplechase at 11:53.58.
Andrea Fromelt was fourth in the same event with a time of 12:09.06.
In the women's 800-meters,
Sophia Taarud was the top Warrior finisher, taking fourth overall with a time of 2:17.43.
In the field events,
Mari Mohling claimed a fourth-place finish with a 1.53 meter (5-0' 1/4") effort.
Hanna Reichenberger was second in the women's triple jump (11.14 meters; 36-6 3/4") and
Ashlie Lockington was fourth (10.97 meters; 36'-0"). Winning the javelin for Winona State was
Kaylee Patnode with a best throw of 40.27 meters (132'1").
Next up on the Winona State track and field schedule is the Maverick Open, set for Wednesday, May 3 in Mankato.
