Ana Wurtz announces 2023 signing class for Winona State women's basketball

WINONA, Minn. - The Winona State University women's basketball program has added four student-athlete signees, as announced head women's basketball coach Ana Wurtz.

The 2023 Warrior signing class consists of three incoming first-year students and one transfer. Vivica Bretton (Rochester, MN), Sadie Jarmolowicz (Freedom, WI), Megan Schuman (Brillion, WI), and transfer Olivia Gamoke (University of Sioux Falls) each signed National Letters of Intent with Winona State.

Of the class as whole, Wurtz noted, "We are extremely excited to announce the signings of Viv, Sadie, Megan, and Olivia. These young ladies are high character individuals that have a strong work ethic, skill set and competitive toughness that will help them be successful in our program.  All four of them come from programs who have a long lineage of success, so they are used to and expect to win.  I know our fans and community members will enjoy watching them compete and represent WSU with class and dignity."

Wurtz on Bretton: "Viv is a winner and an outstanding competitor who has already shown signs of leadership and elite communication. At 5'10", she has a versatile skill set in her ability to score from inside and out and defend multiple positions.  In Viv, we added an exceptional energy and great teammate. Wurtz on Jarmolowicz: "Sadie is an exceptional floor general who shines as a play-making guard who can create for herself as well as others.  She fills the stat sheet with many nights accomplishing the rare feat of a double-double.  She is a selfless teammate who does a lot of little things that lead to winning.  We can't wait to see the impact she has on our program!"

Wurtz on Gamoke: "We are thrilled to welcome Olivia, an Onalaska, Wis. native, back "home" after competing against her the previous two seasons at USF.  She was always a highlight on our scouting report when we faced her team.  We are excited to add one of the hardest workers in the league to our roster! She has a tremendous passion for the game, and we know we have added a great leader who loves to compete! We are excited about her versatility to play as both a shooting and point guard. She is a consistent shooter from deep, can attack the rim and has a dynamic mid-range game.  She is a poised playmaker who makes great decisions on the basketball floor. Her previous experience and familiarity with the league will make for an easy transition to Winona State."
