SUNRISE BEACH, Mo. - The Winona State University men's golf team is set to tee off at the Lincoln Invitational in Sunrise Beach, Mo. on Monday, Sept. 11 and Tuesday, Sept .12. The Lincoln Invitational is hosted by Lincoln University of Missouri.
The Warriors open play on Monday led by 2023 NSIC Preseason Player of the Year
Alessandro Trenta, a sophomore from Killwangen, Switzerland. Trenta was a 2022-23 NCAA Division II Regional qualifier last spring and highlights a strong returning roster for head coach
Jeff Straight.
Winona State was picked to win the league this year, according to the 2023 NSIC Preseason Poll, as voted upon by the coaches. The Warriors earned 60 points overall in the poll and received five first-place votes. The race to the top looks competitive, based on the poll, as Bemidji State and Concordia, St. Paul both received two first-place votes as well. The 2023 fall WSU Men's Golf schedule features five events, including the Warriors' own Watkins Invitational, held at The Bridges in Lake City, Minn. on Monday, Sept. 25 and Tuesday, Sept. 26.
The 2023-24 NSIC Men's Golf Championship will be a three-round event taking place next spring on April 19-21 at Adams Pointe Golf Club in Blue Springs, Missouri.
