WINONA, Minn. - Eric Kartheiser was a two-year member of the Winona State University baseball program. A Waubonsee Community College transfer, Kartheiser played outfield for the Warriors from 1992-1994. He graduated in 1996 with degrees in Physical Education and School Health. He also earned his master's degree in Education from Winona State in 2001. He is currently a teacher within the Rochester Public School District.

What was your favorite sports memory during your time at WSU?
It would have to be playing at the Metrodome and seeing my brother and dad drive up from Illinois to surprise me.

What would you say is your greatest athletic or academic accomplishment during your time at WSU?
Hitting a home run in the 9th inning to send the game into extra innings against Southwest Minnesota State. Unfortunately, we lost in extras.

How has your WSU athletics experience been influential throughout your life?
It taught me to be resilient.

Please share any recent professional or personal accomplishments.
I was honored to be one of the 25 nationally chosen coaches to receive the Double Goal Coach Award by the Positive Coaching Alliance in 2014. I was the only recipient that year from Minnesota.

What is your current occupation, and what are your career goals?
I am currently a physical education teacher and gymnastics coach for Rochester Public Schools. Now that my children are college age, I hope to develop a baseball program at the high school or college level.

What advice would you give to current WSU student-athletes?
Find a balance between athletics, academics, and being social. Those experiences will help shape your life after college.
