Box Score MOORHEAD, Minn. – The Winona State University volleyball team earned a Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) victory on Saturday, Sep. 30, defeating MSU Moorhead, 3-0.
Playing on the road for the second consecutive day, WSU outlasted MSUM 25-22 in the opening set and went on to claim the next two stanzas by scores of 25-20 and 25-19 for the win.

How It Happened
A tightly contested first set saw Winona State pull away late to gain an early advantage. WSU held the Dragons to a .077 hitting percentage, while kills from
Rayliene Joens and
Taylor Pagel late in the set helped seal the win.Â
In set two, Winona State racked up 17 kills en route to taking a 2-0 lead in the match. WSU hit .342 as a team in the second stanza.
Gianna Vollrath racked up a pair of kills early on as the Warriors opened with a 5-1 lead to begin play, putting the Dragons on the defensive from the start.Â
Set three saw WSU battle back from a two-point deficit mid-way through the stanza, as the Dragons opened up to leads of 10-8 and 11-9. Winona State would counter with a four-point streak to move in front 13-11 and hold the lead the rest of the way. Joens again factored in the decisive later part of the set, earning kills on two of the final three Warrior points, with Vollrath also getting a key kill late in the set.Â

WSU ran their win streak over the Dragons to 12 straight.
With split on the NSIC weekend, Winona State remains in the top half of the NSIC standings.
Winona State will play at Wayne State College on Tuesday, a mid-week 700 mile roundtrip to face the nation's top team.
