EAU CLAIRE – Winona State kicked off the 2024 season competing at the University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire in a WIAC Triangular on Thursday, January 11. The meet highlighted first place finishes by Taryn Sellner and Bryce Stoltz. Winona State ended with a third-place finish overall as a team against UW-Whitewater and UW-Eau Claire.
The Warriors tallied a team score of 184.625, while UW-Eau Claire finished in second with a 186.900 and UW-Whitewater earned team champion honors with a score of 188.900.
Jessica Miley competed in the all-around competition for WSU, scoring a 37.375 to finish third in the all-around standings. Miley earned a score of 9.325 in the vault, 9.400 on the bar, 9.200 on the beam and 9.450 in floor exercise.
Taryn Sellner earned a first-place finish on floor exercise, with a score of 9.675 and Izzy Kropiwiec earned a fourth-place finish with a score of 9.575.
On the beam, Bryce Stoltz received a score of 9.700, earning her a first-place finish. Stoltz also competed in the floor exercise with a score of 9.525, good for a four-way tie for 7th along with fellow Warrior teammate Courtney Knutson.
Izzy Kropiwiec led Winona State in vault with a score of 9.550 and Kaylee Bateman leading the way in bars with a score of 9.450 good for third.
Winona State will now turn their attention to their home opener on Friday, January 19 when the Warriors host University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. The WIAC dual meet will start at 6 p.m. in McCown Gymnasium, home of WNB Financial Court.
