SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - The Winona State University Warriors top the University of Sioux Falls Cougars 1-0 on the road.
The Warriors hit the road on Friday with a mission to come home with a win, which they did exactly that. Both WSU and USF kept the game scoreless through 45 minutes. The Warriors did get 12 shots off in the first half putting the Cougar defense to the test. Winona State only allowing two shots by USF with
Alyson Jumper collecting one save in the first half. WSU did get shots off by
Catheryn Hudak,
Grace Seim,
Kyleigh Jannisch,
Adrianna Bixby, and
Madisson Watts.
Winona State came out of half time with a mission to find the back of the net and they did just that. Ten minutes into the second half Hudak found the back of the from Jannisch who got the ball from the feet of several Warriors and Cougars. This put WSU up 1-0. The Warriors collected shots in the second half from
Sarah Strating,
Johanna Shubert, Watts, and
Chloe Turner with four of those shots falling on goal. Jumper collected three saves in the second half to add to her shut out record, which is up to three shut outs.
The Winona State Warriors will be back on the road to take on Minnesota State in Mankato, Minn. on Sunday, October 13 with kick off set for 1 p.m.
