WARRIORS DROP CLOSELY CONTESTED MATCH AGAINST #12 MSU MANKATO

WINONA, Minn. - The Winona State University women's soccer team drops a closely contested match against #12 Minnesota State University Mankato.

Right away in the first half the Mavericks would get on the board, just 42 seconds into the game with a penalty kick coming from Maddix Archer. Winona State would come out after that goal and show defensive grit the rest of half one with Alyson Jumper saving eight more shot attempts on goal for the Warriors with the final shot coming just before halftime at the 43-minute mark.

In the second half both the Warriors and Mavericks were back and forth in each other's offensive zones trying to score. The Warriors would have a couple shots on goal in half two, one coming from Jacey Sturek at the 57-minute mark and another coming from Catheryn Hudak at the 80-minute mark. Winona State goalie Alyson Jumper would earn nine total saves in the contest. The Mavericks would be too much to handle, with the Warriors falling 0-1 in a closely contested match.

The Warriors are next in action on Sunday, October 20 at 1pm at home where they face off against Southwest Minnesota State University on Alumni Day at Maxwell Field.
