ST. CLOUD, Minn. - The Winona State University Warriors tied against the St. Cloud State Huskies in a deadlock 1-1 tie.
Going into the first half, the Warriors knew it was going to be a hard fought battle against the Huskies. Both WSU and SCSU kept the game scoreless through 45 hard fought minutes. Winona State was able to get two shots, which were both on goal taken by
Kyleigh Jannisch.
Alyson Jumper was able to save two shots by St. Cloud along with the help from the Warriors defense, preventing them from scoring.
Going into the second half, both teams were determined to find the back of the back of the net and score. The Huskies were the first team to find the back of the net by Darby Allen, 19 minutes into the second half. The Warriors answered back seven minutes later with a goal by McKayla Paunker, who collected her first goal as a Warrior. WSU was able to get eight shots off in the second half by Paukner,
Sarah Strating,
Johanna Shubert,
Faith Quinn,
Adrianna Bixby and Jannisch. Jumper was able to collected two more saves to prevent SCSU from scoring again.
Both teams battled to score again to take the lead, but were unable to do so resulting in there hard fought 1-1 tie.
The Winona State University Warriors will be heading to Duluth to take on the University of Minnesota Duluth Bulldogs on Sunday, November 3 with kickoff set for 1p.m.
