DULUTH, Minn. - The Winona State University Warriors beat the University of Minnesota Duluth Bulldogs on the road, 1-0.
The Warriors hit the road to face off against the Bulldogs from Minnesota Duluth in hopes to collect a win to round out the weekend. WSU successfully accomplished just that. Both WSU and UMD kept the first half scoreless. The Warriors were able to get eight shots off with five of those being on goal. The Warriors that collected shots in the first half were Kyliegh Jannisch,
Faith Quinn, Annika Groendel,
Johanna Shubert, and
Jacey Sturek.
Alyson Jumper was able to collect two saves in the first half to help keep the Warriors deadlocked with the Bulldogs.
Going into the second half, WSU was hungry to get the ball into the back of the net and
Madisson Watts did just that. Watts was able to find the back of the net 18 minutes into the second half after
Sarah Strating crossed the ball over for Watts to find the bottom right corner. Winona State collected eight more shots with five of them being on goal. The Warriors that collected the shots were Sturek, Jannisch, Quinn,
Abigail Williams, and Watts. The Warriors defense kept the Bulldogs away from Jumper in goal not allowing a shot on goal. This 1-0 will also adds Jumper's fourth shut out of the season.
The Winona State University Warriors will round out their regular season play on the road where WSU will play Wayne State College on Thursday, November 7 with kick off set for 3p.m.
