ST. PAUL, Minn. - The Winona State University men's basketball team faced off against Concordia University, St. Paul, defeating them 83-73 on the road. Luke Haertle paced the Warriors in scoring with 24 points, 8 rebounds, and 5 assists.
How it Happened:
Winona State and Concordia-St. Paul traded baskets back and forth early in the game, but a Connor Drew layup assisted by Haertle gave the Warriors an early advantage at 12-11. Two Warrior starters got their second fouls late in the first half, with them sitting the Warriors saw a 30-29 lead going into the half with the final score coming from Isaiah Thompson.
A Luke Haertle layup would get the second half started for Winona State and the Golden Bears would have a response to every WSU basket from there on out. Shortly after, a three-pointer from Arius Alijosius and five straight points from Haertle extended the lead to eight points. Coming off the bench Tyler Orr would knock down two key three-pointers in the final six minutes of the game, keeping the lead to a comfortable distance. The Warriors ended the game with a plethora of free throws, winning 83-73.
