WINONA, Minn. – The Winona State University gymnastics team competed in their third Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) meet of the 2024 season on Friday, February 2, taking on the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater in McCown Gymnasium, home of WNB Financial Court.
WSU celebrated the annual 'Smile On' Alumnae meet against the Warhawks, while also honoring the legacy of Brooke Baures. A highlight on the evening for the Warriors was claiming a team beam score of 47.925, ranking as the third-best ever score in the event in Winona State program history.
The Warriors tallied a team score of 187.950, good for runner-up honors, while UW-Whitewater compiled a 190.550 to earn first place on the evening.
Leading the way for Winona State individually in the All-Around with a second-place finish was
Bryce Stoltz, collecting a score of 37.825 across the vault, bars, beam and floor exercise.
Jessica Miley joined Stoltz in the final top three of the All-Around with a score of 37.825. UW-Whitewater's Danielle Dudziak won the event with a 37.900.
Winona State swept the top three places on the beam, with
Taryn Sellner's 9.675 yielding championship honors for the Warriors.
Bryce Stoltz was second for WSU (9.675) and
Jessica Miley was third (9.600) in an impressive effort for head coach Stephanie Geislinger in the event, scoring 47.925 overall.
Although UW-Whitewater claimed the top three places on the bars, including UWW's Hayden Gough's 9.675 championship score,
Jessica Miley and
Taylor Magierka finished as the top two Warrior performances in the event. Miley earned a sixth-place 9.375 score, and Magierka was close behind at 9.075.
The vault saw Winona State's
Bryce Stoltz earn a top-three finish, coming in third with a 9.550. UW-Whitewater's Carleigh Moore finished in first place with a 9.675.
WSU earned another first-place finish on the floor, with
Taryn Sellner taking top honors at 9.675, with Warrior teammate
Madysen Diskerud earning second at 9.600. The event saw a three-way tie at 9.575 for third that included WSU's
Bryce Stoltz and
Izzy Kropiwiec, as well as UW-Whitewater's Tegan Haberstock.
Winona State will enjoy back-to-back home competitions, hosting Hamline University and the University of Wisconsin-Stout on Thursday, February 8. The Warriors, Pipers and Blue Devils will march in at 6 p.m. in McCown Gymnasium, home of WNB Financial Court.
