ST. PETER, Minn. - The Winona State University gymnastics team traveled to Gustavus Adolphus College to take on the Gusties in a WIAC dual meet on Friday, February 23 in St. Peter, Minn.
Competing in Sponberg Gymnastics Studio in St. Peter, the Gusties' captured top team honors with a score of 188.875 while Winona State was second with 186.800 points as a team.
In the All-Around competition, Winona State's
Bryce Stoltz earned second place finish with a score of 37.075. Gustavus Adolphus gymnast Maddox Lee took first with a score of 38.300.
On the Bars,
Kaylee Bateman claimed runner-up honors for Winona State, scoring 9.450 in the event. The Gusties' Madox Lee won the bars with a score of 9.575.
In the Vault competition,
Madysen Diskerud led the Warriors scoring 9.550, good for a first-place finish
. Warrior teammate
Courtney Knutson finished with a score of 9.475 good for a tie for fourth.
Taryn Sellner was the highest-placing Winona State athlete on the Balance Beam, scoring a second-place 9.725. Maddox Lee won the event with a mark of 9.775.
On the Floor Exercise, Winona State's
Bryce Stoltz had the top Warrior score, tying for first with a score of 9.625 with Gusties' Marley Michaud and Olivia Jahnke.
As a team, Winona State scored 47.325 on the Vault and 44.525 on the Bars. The Warriors collected a Beam team score of 47.475 and a Floor mark of 47.475.
Next up for Winona State will be the final home competition of the 2024 season, as WSU hosts Simpson College on Friday, March 1. Head coach Stephanie Geislinger and the Warriors will celebrate senior night for WSU against the Storm; march in is set for 6 p.m. in McCown Gymnasium, home of WNB Financial Court.
