Warrior Game Day : Gymnastics

WINONA, Minn. -  The Winona State University gymnastics team is set to host their first home triangular match of the year, welcoming Hamline University and the University of Wisconsin Stout for a WIAC competition on Thursday, February 8.  The Warriors, Pipers and Blue Devils will begin at 6:00 p.m. in McCown Gymnasium, home of WNB Financial Court.

The meet against Hamline and UW-Stout is the annual 'Cause Meet', a competition in which each gymnast wears a ribbon in support of a particular cause of their choice. Thursday's event is the third home competition of the 2024 season and fifth overall for Winona State and head coach Stephanie Geislinger. 

UW-Stout enters competition tonight coming off setting a facility record in a 191.325 - 185.125 dual meet win over Gustavus Adolphus on Friday, February 2 at home in the Johnson Fieldhouse. Stout also set team record in the vault with a 48.125 on the evening.  The Blue Devils are 4-0 in WIAC competition and 4-1 overall on the year. The Blue Devils are at the top of the WIAC standings heading into Thursday's event. 

Hamline most recently competed at UW-Whitewater on Sunday, February 6, in a dual meet at Walker Fieldhouse. There, the Pipers saw Brooke Reardon win the Balance Beam with a score of 9.650. The Pipers are 0-5 in WIAC competion this season. 

Entering the midpoint of the season, Winona State has put together several record-breaking performances this year. Most recently, in a dual meet against the University of Wisconsin Whitewater on February 2,  the Warriors claimed a team beam score of 47.925, ranking as the third-best ever score in the event in Winona State program history.  Earlier this season, WSU earned the eighth-best team score of 47.350 against UW Oshkosh on January 19.  Competing at NCAA Division I program Southeast Missouri State on Friday, January 26,  the Warriors scored 189.025 points as a team, tying the fourth-best team score in program history. 

In the triangular meet, WSU will provide two live streams, one dedicated to Warrior events and one to the Pipers and Blue Devils. Fans can also follow along to live scoring, updated after each rotation.  The ticket window in McCown will open 60 minutes before march in.
