WINONA, Minn. - The Winona State University gymnastics team took on Hamline University and the University of Wisconsin Stout in the first home WIAC triangular of the 2024 Warrior season.
When the dust settled, the Blue Devils
took top team honors with a score of 188.450 while host Winona State was second with 188.175 points as a team. Hamline University rounded out the team scores with a 179.825 finishing third. The 188.175 for WSU is a top-ten team mark, displacing the Warriors 188.000 score against Hamline University in 2019.
In the All-Around, Winona State's Jessica Miley earned first place with a championship score of 38.025. Gillian Cummins of UW Stout was second with a 37.900 mark and WSU's Bryce Stoltz took third at 37.275.
On the Bars, the field was led by Kiara Brown of UW Stout, earning top honors with a winning score of 9.600. UW Stout had both runner-up scores, with Sarah Lutz and Effie Ferguson both notching a 9.550 For Winona State, Kaylee Bateman was the top-finishing Warrior with a 9.450, good for fourth overall.
The Vault was won by Taylar Schafer of UW Stout, earning a top mark of 9.700 winning the event for the Blue Devils. The Blue Devils' Jessica Qualich was the runner-up on the vault with a 9.675 mark. Taking third was Winona State's Bryce Stotz with a score of 9.600. Madysen Disekrud of Winona State took fifth overall with a 9.525.
Winona State earned a sweep on the Beam, registering a top score of 9.575 through Jessica Miley, the event champion. Taryn Sellner was tied for second for WSU with a mark of 9.500 with Warrior teammate Kaylee Bateman.
On the Floor Exercise, the event was won by Isabela Krulich of UW Stout, taking top honors with a 9.700. Jessica Miley of Winona State was the runner-up with a 9.650, as was WSU's Izzy Kropiweic. Winona State's Taryn Sellner scored a 9.625 in the event, as well.
As a team, Winona State scored 47.250 on the Vault and 45.800 on the Bars. The Warriors collected a Beam team score of 47.025 and a Floor mark of 48.100. WSU also cracked the team top 10 in the floor with 48.100, besting their 48.025 at the Cardinal Classic in 2003.
Next up for Winona State will be a short road trip downriver to La Crosse, Wisconsin, where WSU will compete in a WIAC dual meet on Friday, February 16. The Warriors and Eagles will see march in at 6 p.m. at UW-L.
