WINONA, Minn. - The Winona State University gymnastics team earned a Senior Day victory over Simpson College on Friday, March 1, as the Warriors defeated the Storm 187.250 - 184.400.
Competing in McCown Gymnasium, home of WNB Financial Court, the Winona State program honored five seniors
Lydia Anderson,
Kennedy O'Connor,
Ashley Roth,
Taryn Sellner, and
Izzy Kropiwiec with an impressive performance in the final regular season meet of the year.
In the All-Around competition, Winona State's
Bryce Stoltz earned championship honors with a score of 37.050. Warrior teammate
Jessica Miley was second in the All-Around with a mark of 35.925 and Simpson College's Bella Dix was third at 35.775.
On the Bars,
WSU's
Taylor Magierka was the champion with a 9.475, leading a Warrior sweep of the event. Winona State's
Jessica Miley took second at 9.425 and teammate
Ashley Roth was third at 9.325. The WSU lineup on bars earned a team score of 46.525. Simpson notched a 47.225 as a team.
In the Vault competition, the Storm's Emma Charles earned first place with a score of 9.600. WSU's
Madysen Diskerud and Simpson's Kaelyn Tally tied for second with a mark of 9.550. Taking third were Winona State's
Izzy Kropiwiec and Simpson's Abbie Lain, both with a 9.425 score. The Warriors earned a 47.275 on the Vault as a team; Simpson scored a 47.225.
On the Beam, Emma Charles of Simpson College earned top honors, scoring a 9.650. Tying at second was Warrior teammates
Taryn Sellner and
Kaelyn Duman, both with a 9.450. In third was the Storm's Brooklen Morgan at 9.300. Winona State had a team beam score of 46.025 and Simpson College registered a 45.975.
On the Floor Exercise, Winona State swept the top three places, with
Taryn Sellner earning the championship score of 9.575.
Jessica Miley was second at 9.550 and
Izzy Kropiwiec was third with 9.50. WSU scored 47.425 overall in the event. Simpson tallied a 46.475
Next up for Winona State will be in action on Saturday, March 9, at the 2024 WIAC Championship/NCGA West Regional, hosted by Hamline University. WSU will face off against seven other WIAC programs beginning at 2 p.m. in St. Paul, Minn.
