SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - The Winona State University baseball team will head to Sioux Falls, South Dakota to host a four-game Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) series against Northern State University on Friday, March 15, and Saturday, March 16.
On Friday in Sioux Falls, Winona State will compete against Northern State in a 7-inning/9-inning double-header format at the Sanford Sports Complex. The two teams are scheduled to square off on Saturday, with a doubleheader start time set for noon. WINONA STATE STORYLINES, heading into the series
The Warriors are 4-10 overall and 1-3 within the NSIC.
Joshua Hawksford is batting .414 on the year and has 12 hits through the 14 games so far this season.
Cole Fuecker is batting .321 and leads the Warriors in hits (18) and runs (13).
Alex Berreth leads WSU in stolen bases, swiping a perfect 4-of-4.
Mason Trocke leads the Warriors in home runs this season (2).
On the mound, Cameron Kramer leads WSU in innings pitched (12.1) and has a 2-1 record.
In addition to Kramer, five pitchers have met or surpassed 10 innings pitched; Pierce Gritzmaker, Logan LeTourneau, Drew Lingen, Peyton Lee, and Peter Tveite.
Cameron Kramer, Kole Hinrichsen, and Ryland Wall all have a Warrior win so far this year.
Andrew Regner has been credited with the only save so far this season.
NORTHERN STATE STORYLINES heading into the series
The Wolves (5-7 overall, 1-3 NSIC) went 1-3 against Minnesota State Mankato in a four-game series, beating the Mavericks 8-3 in the first game then falling 3-17, 4-8, and 3-15 in the next three games.
Brennan Phillips is batting .439, with one home run and 18 hits on the year to lead the team.
Phillips and Karson Hesser lead NSU in RBI's with 10 each.
The Wolves have been 9-of-13 in swipes coming into the weekend.
Three NSU pitchers have reached more than ten innings-pitched; Max Otto (19.2), Michael Chevalier (17), and Drew Burkholder (13).
Dean Berry has been with NSU baseball for 14 seasons.
WARRIOR NOTABLES
Head coach Seth Wing is in his second season at Winona State, having previously served as athletic director and baseball coach at Cornell College.
Wing was an associate head coach during WSU's last World Series appearance in 2011.
Winona State first fielded an intercollegiate baseball team in 1919.
