WINONA, Minn. - The Winona State University baseball team will open their home schedule against Bemidji State in a Thursday - Friday Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) series. The Warriors and Beavers will play doubleheaders on both Thursday and Friday with noon starts each day.
Winona State (5-13,, 2-5 NSIC) will compete against Bemidji State in a 7-inning/9-inning double-header format in the cozy confines of Loughrey Field. The WSU-BSU series was originally scheduled for a 3-day format over the weekend; however, forecasted weather created a schedule change.

WINONA STATE STORYLINES, heading into the series
The Warriors are 5-13 overall and 2-6 within the NSIC.
Joshua Hawksford is batting .409 on the year and has 18 hits through the 18 games so far this season.
Cole Fuecker is batting .319 and leads the Warriors in hits (23) and runs (15), and home runs (3).
Alex Berreth leads WSU in stolen bases, swiping a perfect 5-of-5.
On the mound, Pierce Gritzmaker leads WSU in innings pitched (17.0).
In addition to Gritzmaker, four pitchers have met or surpassed 12 innings pitched; Cameron Kramer, Logan LeTourneau, Peyton Lee, and Peter Tveite.
Cameron Kramer, Kole Hinrichsen, Theo Giedd and Ryland Wall all have a Warrior win so far this year.
Andrew Regner and Mason Beltrand have been credited with the only saves so far this season.
BEMIDJI STATE STORYLINES heading into the series
The Beavers (1-17 overall, 0-8 NSIC) went 0-4 against Augustana University in a four-game series.
Jackson Schaffer is batting .465, with two home runs and 20 hits on the year to lead the team.
Schaffer and Carter McLaughlin lead BSU in RBI's with 8 each.
The Beavers have been 9-of-12 in swipes coming into the weekend.
Three BSU pitchers have reached more than ten innings-pitched; Derek Hoffman (18.0), Jacob Smith (17.1), and Christian Lindow (12.1).
Matt Ellinghuysen has been with BSU baseball for 7 seasons.
WARRIOR NOTABLES
Head coach Seth Wing is in his second season at Winona State, having previously served as athletic director and baseball coach at Cornell College.
Wing was an associate head coach during WSU's last World Series appearance in 2011.
Winona State first fielded an intercollegiate baseball team in 1919.
