MARSHALL, Minn. - The Winona State University baseball team earned an 11-8 win over Southwest Minnesota State on Sunday, as
Pierce Gritzmaker paced the Warriors to a nine-inning victory on the road.
Winona State used a pair of big innings, scoring four runs in the fifth and seventh frames, to capture an away win over SMSU. Three WSU home runs allowed the Warriors to keep pace and eventually pull away from the Mustangs in the nine-inning affair which had significant NSIC postseason implications.
Cole Fuecker,
Alex Berreth, and
Josh Gullickson all had home runs in the game, with Fuecker adding a double to the Warrior effort. On the base paths, head coach
Seth Wing turned the Warriors loose, as WSU collected four stolen bases.
Fuecker finished with an eye-popping five RBI in the game and had a double among his three hits. Gritzmaker earned the Warrior win with six innings of solid work, striking out two Mustangs along the way.
