Box Score SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - The Winona State University softball team's late game rally wasn't enough for the Warriors to beat University of Minnesota Duluth in the quarterfinals of the NSIC Tournament.
Winona State battled until the final out of the seventh inning and came up short of a comeback from behind fashioned win against Minnesota Duluth in the NSIC Tournament.

The Warriors faced off against Minnesota Duluth in the quarterfinals in the NSIC Tournament and fell just short of having a comeback from behind game against the Bulldogs. Earlier in the season WSU swept UMD in the RCTC Dome in Rochester, Minn. by a scoreline of 7-2 and 3-2.
Both the Warriors and the Bulldogs were in a pitchers were locked in to have a pitchers' duel between Lauren Dixon and
Izzy Howe, until UMD's Julia Gronholz hit a two run homerun in the bottom of the first to go up 2-0. The Warriors were cut the deficit to one run in the top of the third with a single hit by
Sam Keller that scored
Savannah Serdynski.
Minnesota Duluth went up 4-1 in the bottom of the fifth inning on two throwing errors made by the Warriors. Going into the sixth inning WSU was unable to respond back at the plate, but with
Jayda Berg coming in to relieve Howe, the Warriors were able to prevent any more runs by UMD.
Winona State were able to start a rally in the top of the seventh inning with Keller and
Abbie Hlas both hitting singles to get runners on first and second base.
Carly Engelhardt came up to the plate and hit double to score both Keller and Hlas to cut the UMD lead down to just a run. Unfortunately, the late game rally wasn't enough to give the Warriors the lead.
