WINONA, Minn. - Winona State University women's soccer looks to go into their home opener strong against the University of Wisconsin-Parkside on Friday, Sept. 13.
The Warriors will be going into their home opener in a non-conference match up against the UW-Parkside Rangers at the Altra Federal Credit Union Stadium at 5 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 13. WSU looks to play with a chip on their shoulders after their last meet up with the Rangers in September 2022. In the last meet up, the Warriors battled all game, but were unable to find the back of the net. The Rangers were able to net a goal and took the win, 1-0.
Winona State Notes:
- Delaney Marier made her debut as head coach for the Warriors in the Upper Iowa match up.
- Both Jacey Sturek and Reese Trebilcock collected their first assists wearing the Warrior uniform.
- Madelynn Drasher and Abigail Williams were the two Warriors to score against Upper Iowa.
- There were four assists collected with both goals scored in the match against UIU.
- Six different Warriors collected at least one shot in the season opener.
- Four different Warriors collected at least one shot on goal in Fayette.
- Winona State will open up NSIC play at home against Augustana University on September 20 at 5 p.m.
UW-Parkside Notes:
- UW-Parkside opened their season with 1-0 wins over MSU Moorhead and Lewis Univesity.
- Ava Rizzitano and Emily Mikkelson have scored the goals for the Rangers.
- Mikkelson and Nadiia Ivanchenko collected the two assists collected in the MSUM and Lewis games.
- Rizzitano and Alair Posard have collected 10 and 11 shots with both Rangers having six of them being shots on goal.
- Six UWP Rangers have collected three or more shots in their first two games.
- The Rangers continue their conference games against St. Cloud State on September 15 at 12 p.m. in Kenosha, Wis.
