WARRIORS WIN HOME OPENER 1-0

Box Score WINONA, Minn. - The Winona State University Warriors defeat the UW-Parkside Rangers 1-0 in their home opener off of a penalty kick earning head coach Delaney Marier her first win as a Warrior. 

The Warriors started the home opener strong with being dominate on the offensive side of the ball in the first half. Both WSU and the UWP Rangers were unable to find the back of the net in the first half of the game. Winona State collected three shots with all three being on goal and UW-Parkside collected two shots in the first half of the game. 

WSU came out of half-time strong playing the ball both offensively and defensively dominate. The Warriors earned a penalty kick at the 67 minute of the game. Abigail Williams took the penalty kick, which was blocked by Lola Minic and bounced off of the side post for Williams to find the back of the net for the Warriors. WSU was dominate on the offensive side of the ball and had several key saves by Alyson Jumper to secure the win for the Warriors. The home opening win for Winona State earned head coach Delaney Marier her first win with WSU. WSU collected five shots with two being on goal and UWP collected four shots with three being on goal. 


The Winona State University Warriors will be back at home on September 20 against Augustana University starting at 5 p.m.
