WARRIORS OPEN NSIC PLAY AGAINST AUGUSTANA AND CONCORDIA-ST. PAUL

WINONA, Minn. - The Winona State University Warriors open up their Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) play at home on Friday, September 20 at 5 p.m. The Warriors will continue NSIC play against Concordia-St. Paul on Sunday, September 22 at 1 p.m. 

The Warriors go into their first  NSIC weekend after two non-conference games against Upper Iowa and UW-Parkside where the ladies tied in a 2-2 deadlock with goals from Madelynn Drasher and Abigail Williams and won 1-0 off of a penalty kick and rebound by Williams. WSU is set to open conference play first against Augustana University then to close out the weekend against Concordia-St. Paul at Altra Federal Credit Union Stadium. 

Winona State Notes: 
  • Head coach Delaney Marier collected her first collegiate  win against UW-Parkside, winning 1-0.
  • Abigail Williams scored the game winning goal against UWP on a rebound from her penalty kick in the second half. 
  • Williams leads the team with goals (2). 
  • Alyson Jumper collected her first shutout of the season against UWP, which earned her seventh career shutout as a Warrior. 
  • WSU goes into conference play 1-0-1, tying against UIU and defeating UWP. 
  • Jacey Sturek leads the team in assists (2), both collected in the UIU game. 
  • Both Williams and Sarah Strating lead the team with shots on goal (3) and overall shots (4). 

Augustana Notes: 
  • The Vikings are 1-1-1 going into conference play. 
  • AU has collected three goals in three games. 
  • Macie Haggerty, Sierra Barkus, Madelyn White all have goals through out three games. 
  • Haggerty and Avery Heinz have collected one assist each in their season. 
  • Taya Baker has collected six saves in 73 minutes in goal.
  • Aliyah Matthews has collected nine saves in 196 minutes in goal. 

Concordia-St. Paul Notes: 
  • The Golden Bears are 2-0-2 going into conference play. 
  • CSP has collected six goals so far this season. 
  • Sydney Manthana and Sammy Ponsonby both have collected goals. 
  • Sophia Haase leads the team in assists (2). 
  • Kayla Matuzak has collected nine saves in goal while playing 236 minutes. 
  • Syndey Potter has collected three saves in goal while playing 90 minutes.
