WARRIORS FALL IN HARD FOUGHT NSIC OPENER

WINONA, Minn. - The Winona State Univeristy Warriors fall in a hard fought match up against Augustana University in a 0-1 loss. 

The first 45 minutes of the game both the Warriors and the Vikings battled on defense and offense to keep scoreless the first half. WSU was able to get four shots off and three of those being on goal. Augustana was able to get six shots with three landing on goal. Alyson Jumper was a key asset for WSU and keeping the game scoreless in the first half and collecting five saves in the 90 minute match up. Chloe Turner held a huge roll with her three shots on goal throughout the game to keep the Vikings on their toes. 

In the second half, the Warrior defense was unable to stop  Augustana in a quick free ball kicked by Macie Haggerty that Avery Heinz tapped it into the back of the net 11 minutes into the second half.  Winona State was able to collect a total of five shots with four of those landing on goal. WSU's Turner lead the team in shots and shots on goal with Adrianna Bixby collecting a shot as well as Madisson Watts collecting one shot that also landing on goal. 

The Warriors will be back in action on their home pitch Sunday, September 22 facing off against Concordia-St. Paul at 1 p.m.
