WARRIORS SET TO HIT THE ROAD IN FIRST NSIC WEEKEND

WINONA, Minn. - The Winona State University women's volleyball team is set to hit the road in the first NSIC weekend of the season. The Warriors are scheduled to face off against #9 Concordia-St. Paul on Friday, September 27 at 6pm and Minnesota State on Saturday, September 28 at 2pm. 
 

Winona State (8-5, 1-1 NSIC) will take on #9 Concordia-St. Paul (6-4, 1-1 NSIC) inside the Gangelhoff Center in St. Paul, Minn. Then travel to Mankato, Minn. To play inside Minnesota State's Taylor Center. 

Winona State Notes:  

  • Winona State went 2-1 last weekend.  
  • The Warriors defeated #11 Minnesota Duluth in five sets last week.  
  • Sidney Paulson leads the Warriors with 145 kills this season.  
  • Anna Hennessy and Ashlyn Steding lead the Warriors with 16 service aces this season.  
  • Junior Jaci Winchell has 267 assists to lead WSU this season.  
  • Abigail Savatski has 50 blocks this season, good for eighth in the NSIC.  
  • Senior Kylie Welch averages 4.72 digs/game good for fifth in the NSIC.  

Concordia-St. Paul Notes:  

  • Concordia-St. Paul head coach Brady Starkey enters his 21st season at the helm of the Golden Bear team.  
  • CSP holds a 6-4 record so far this season, going 1-1 in NSIC play.  
  • The Golden Bears faced off against #12 St. Cloud State, falling 0-3 in their last match.  
  • Sophia Andersen leads the Golden Bears in kills this season with 102.  
  • Teagan Starkey has 483 assists so far this season.  
  • Claudia Stahlke leads CSP in blocks with 62.0.  

Minnesota State Notes:  

  • Corey Phelps enters his fourth season as head coach of the Mavericks  
  • Minnesota State holds an 8-1 record. 
  • The Mavericks faced off against St. Cloud State, falling 1-3 in their last match.  
  • Toryn Richards leads MSU Mankato in kills this season with 96.  
  • Brooke Bolwerk has 169 assists so far this season.  
  • Emily Kern leads the Mavericks in blocks with 37.0.
