WINONA, Minn. - The Winona State University gymnastics team hits the road to Eastern Michigan University to take on the Eagles from Eastern Michigan, the Cardinals from Ball State University, and the Huskies from Northern Illinois University for their quad meet against three Division I schools on Friday, January 17 with a start time of 6 p.m. EST/ 5 p.m. CST.
The Warriors head into this weekend coming off their first-place finish against Simpson College and Greenville University where WSU recorded a team score of 187.275. Winona State's
Jessica Miley took second in all-around (37.175) and third on the bars (9.550) and floor (9.625). The Warriors'
Bryce Stoltz and
Kaelyn Duman tied for second on the beam both getting a score of 9.650 and
Kennedy O'Connor took third on the vault earning a score of 9.650. Also for WSU,
Gabby Kraft took second place on floor earning a score of 9.725. Some other Warriors to watch for is
Madysen Diskerud,
Maddie Reiner, and
Taylor Magierka.
Winona State goes into the Eastern Michigan quad meet being the only Division III team among three Division I schools, which marks the third consecutive year that the Warriors competed against Division I schools. The Eagles from Eastern Michigan head into this quad meet coming off of a win against Bowling Green with a team score of 194.925 with Raisa Boris, Genae Daniel, Ella Chemotti, and Priya Karle leading the way. The Huskies come into the quad meet after competing against the University of Nebraska led by Drake White and Mikayla Brown. The Cardinals from Ball State come off of a home quad weekend against the University of Illinois, Southeast Missouri State University, and WIAC rival, UW-Eau Claire, where the Cardinals took first place as a team with a score of 194.450 lead by Zoe Middleton and Hannah Ruthberg.
