WINONA, Minn. - The Winona State University gymnastics team hosted their first home meet of the season competing against the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse and Gustavus Adolphus College.
The Warriors finished the day with a team score of 187.875, placing second overall. UW-La Crosse finished in the top spot with a score of 191.300, while Gustavus earned a 185.600 as a team.
Kennedy O'Connor finished in a tie for first place on the vault, scoring a 9.675 with UWL's Lily Millington. Warrior Kaylee Bateman competed on the bars earning a tie for third place with a score of 9.550. Winona State's Bryce Stoltz finished with a 9.775 on the beam earning her a share of first place with the Eagles' Kyla Dickson. Gabby Kraft competed on the beam as well earning a 9.675 finishing in fourth place for WSU. On the floor Winona would shine, taking the top two spots with Gabby Kraft finishing in first with a score of 9.775 and Warrior teammate Taylor Magierka finishing just behind her in second place with a score of 9.750.
As a team the Warriors' overall score on the vault was 47.575, for the uneven bars they gathered a 45.375, on the beam a 47.175 total as a team, and lastly the floor exercise WSU scored a 47.750.
Winona State gymnastics is next in action on Friday, January 31 at 6pm where they face off in a dual meet against the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater at home inside McCown Gymnasium.
