WARRIOR WOMEN'S BASKETBALL READY FOR NSIC WEEKEND

WINONA, Minn. - The Winona State women's basketball team is set to host the University Minnesota Crookston and Bemidji State University on Friday, January 10th at 5:30pm and Saturday, January 11th at 3:30pm.

Winona State University is hosting their Winter Game Day Experience from 3pm to 6pm inside McCown Gymnasium during the game on Saturday against Bemidji State. This family-friendly event will feature vendors, games and giveaways for all ages – with special Winona State employee incentives and giveaways. Win additional prizes by helping us stock the Warrior Cupboard as part of Hunger Action Day. All employees are FREE with their Winona State ID. 


Winona State Notes: 

  • The Warriors are 7-8 so far this season and 3-6 in the NSIC. 
  • Winona State is third in the conference in three-pointers made at 124, good for 8.3 per game. 
  • This is the beginning of a four game homestand for the Warriors. 
  • Hailey Markworth is averaging 12.1 points per game, putting her in the top 15 in the NSIC. 
  • Olivia Gamoke averages 2.7 three-pointers per game, ranking her first in the NSIC. 
  • Mattie Schimenz leads the Warriors with 2.5 assists per game and adds 9.4 ppg.
  • Markworth shoots 47.3% from the field so far this season, ranking sixth in the conference. 

Minnesota Crookston Notes: 

  • UMC holds a 5-9 record on the year, 3-5 in the NSIC. 
  • Golden Eagle head coach Natalie Moynihan is in her second season at the helm of the UMC squad. 
  • As a team Minnesota Crookston is shooting 39.5% from the floor and 29.2% from three-point range. 
  • Emma Miller leads UMC in scoring at 21.6 points per game which puts her first in the NSIC. 
  • Leading the Golden Eagles in rebounding is Nicole Hernandez at 8.5 per game. 
  • In their most recent action UMC faced Sioux Falls, losing the contest 75-65. 

Bemidji State Notes: 

  • Bemidji State holds a 4-8 record overall and 2-6 in the NSIC. 
  • Chelsea Stoltenberg is in her ninth season as head coach of the Beavers. 
  • BSU shoots 38.3% from the field and 28.5% from beyond the arc. 
  • Tieryn Plasch leads Bemidji State in scoring at 10.5 points per game 
  • Averaging 5.2 rebounds per game, Aubrey Heyer leads BSU in rebounding. 
  • The Beavers most recently faced off against Augustana, winning the contest 63-50.
