WINONA, Minn. –
Madison Barnick's goal in the 89th minute allowed the Warriors to walk away from the home contest with the 2-1 victory.
An early goal by UMC was responded to later in the game by a swarming Warrior's offense who continued to push the envelope all half. A goal from
Sonia Gutierrez was then built off by the game winner from
Madison Barnick with 41 seconds left in the match, moving the Warriors to a 3-2-2 in conference play.
How it Happened:
The Warriors pushed the issue all game. The Winona State offense swarmed the Golden Eagle defense all game. The Warriors outshot the Golden Eagles 7-1 in the first half. A Golden Eagle goal at the 30-minute mark, was met with more pressure from the Warriors.
The second half saw no letup in the advantageous Warrior's offense. Great runs followed by aggressive offense led to the Warriors tallying 15 shots to a Golden Eagle 0 in the second half.
Sonia Gutierrez led the Warrior response with the first goal at the 72nd minute, with
Madison Barnick delivering the final blow in the 89th minute. Winona State was able to keep UMC off the board and leave with a 2-1 victory.
