MEN'S BASKETBALL KICKS OFF NSIC PLAY IN A BUSY WEEK OF HOOPS

WINONA, Minn. - The Winona State men's basketball continues their 2025-26 regular season with a pair of road contests. The Warriors kick-off NSIC play traveling to Concordia-St. Paul on Wednesday, November 19th at 6:00pm. Then, WSU will travel to Kenosha, Wis. to play UW-Parkside on Saturday, November 22nd at 3:00pm.

The Warriors are on an 11-game winning streak against CSP, including winning last year's contest 83-73 in St. Paul, Minn. Winona State is 8-9 all time against UW-Parkside with Winona State winning the most recent contest 59-45 on December 31st, 2023.

Winona State Notes:
  • Winona State enters the week 1-1 after a thrilling 60-59 win over Southern Arkansas and an 88-57 loss against #2 Washburn.
  • The Warriors enter the 2025-26 season ranked ninth in the NSIC Preseason Coaches' Poll. 
  • Head Coach Todd Eisner is in his 11th season at the helm of the program. He is 159-119 during his tenure with the Warriors.
  • Gavyn Hurley led the Warriors in their opening weekend averaging 16.5 points and 6.5 rebounds. Hurley hit the game winning shot in the back-and-forth victory over Southern Arkansas.
  • Transfer Ryan Heise kicked off his Warriors career averaging 9.5 points and 6.5 boards a game through the first weekend.
  • Freshman Aidan Bardic started out his collegiate career averaging 9.5 points in the two contests.
  • Tyler Mason and Ryan Watters round out the rest of the WSU starting lineup.
  • Following this week, the Warriors head down to Lakeland, Florida to play Florida Southern College on Friday, November 28th at 7:30pm (EST). The following day, WSU will play Saint Leo University at 5:00pm (EST).
Concordia-St. Paul Notes:
  • Concordia-St. Paul started their season off with a couple of wins against Nebraska-Kearney and Fort Hays State.
  • The Golden Bears enter the 2025-26 season ranked fourth in the NSIC Preseason Coaches' Poll. 
  • Head Coach Matt Fletcher is in his 10th year with the team, compiling a record of 122-118 in his tenure.
  • Ben Kopetzki led the Golden Bears in their opening weekend, averaging 22.5 points with 3.5 assists per game.
  • Owen Carlson is a key player to watch averaging 19.5 points while Sam West averaged 13.5 points a game with six boards and a team-high four assists per game.
  • Following the game against the Warriors, CSP will head down to Springfield, Missouri to play a couple games vs. Drury (Mo.) and McKendree (Ill.) in the Drury DoubleTree by Hilton Holiday Classic on November 25-26.
UW-Parkside Notes:
  • The Rangers split their opening weekend of contest losing 78-69 to Upper Iowa while defeating the University of Illinois Springfield 95-77.
  • UW-Parkside was picked to finish third in the GLIAC Preseason Poll.
  • Head Coach Luke Reigel is in his 23rd season leading the Rangers Men's Basketball team. He has compiled a record of 311-282 in his time at the helm of the program.
  • Luka Mateski will look to continue his solid start to the season, averaging 23 points and five rebounds per game.
  • Paxton Warden is a vital piece to the Rangers averaging 17 points a game with 5.5 rebounds through the first two games of the season.
  • UW-Parkside will stay at home to face off against Edgewood College on Saturday, November 29th at 3:00pm.
