WARRIORS DROP CONTEST AGAINST VIKINGS 67-61

WINONA, Minn. - The Winona State University women's basketball team faced off against Augustana University inside McCown Gymnasium, dropping the contest 61-67.

Olivia Gamoke and Vivica Bretton both reached double figures in the game with Gamoke earning 15 points and Bretton collecting 10.

How it Happened:

In the first quarter Megan Schuman got the Warriors going with a layup assisted by Vivica Bretton. The Vikings would score six straight points after the WSU layup, battling back and forth the whole first quarter.

Quarter number two began with both teams getting on the board, Olivia Gamoke knocking one down from deep for the Warriors. AU took every advantage they could, outscoring WSU 16-9 in the quarter taking a 32-19 lead at halftime.

Coming out of the half the Vikings saw quick points extending the lead to as many as 18 points, but multiple buckets coming from the Warriors saw the lead down to 10 before the buzzer sounded.

Fighting with all they had, WSU knocked down two shots from beyond the arc to begin the final quarter with the shots coming from none other than Vivica Bretton and Olivia Gamoke. Battling back and forth just over the three-minute mark, two Hailey Markworth free throws would cut the lead to two points.
