WINONA STATE ATHLETICS SPRING BREAK: WEDNESDAY, MARCH 12

WINONA, Minn. – Winona State Athletics spring break: Wednesday, March 12.
 
SOFTBALL
Wayne State University (3) – Winona State (0):
Wayne State scored two unearned runs in the top of the first inning to get out to an early lead. Winona State scattered eight hits throughout the game, but the Warriors were unable to bring any runs across the plate. Wayne State added one more run in the sixth to earn a 3-0 victory.
 
Izzy Howe pitched a complete game for the Warriors, allowing just one earned run and giving up three hits while striking out seven batters. Sam Keller, Indigo Fish, and Tiegan Mancuso each had two hits in the game.
 
Winona State (7) – Northwood (1):
In their final game of the spring break trip, Winona State defeated Northwood 7-1. Northwood scored in the first, but WSU answered in the third and fifth innings with a run in each. Winona State tallied four more in the sixth inning, with the help of a Sam Keller two RBI triple, and ended up winning the game 7-1.
 
Jayda Berg earned the win in the circle, going all seven innings and giving up just one run. Kiley Slaats and Bryn Elsenpeter each had multi-hit games while Keller and Slaats had a pair of RBIs each to lead the Warriors at the plate.
 
TENNIS
Winona State (7) – Seton Hill (0):
Winona State picked up the doubles point as the No. 2 (Skylar Gary and Alexandra Madjun) and No. 3 (Clara Thoemke and Ally Burger) doubles teams earned victories. The Warriors used the momentum from doubles to earn a clean sweep in singles.
 
Lainy Ristau won 6-1, 6-2 at No. 1 singles. Gary battled to a three-set win at No. 2 singles. Thoemke took care of business at No. 3 singles. Burger won No. 4 singles in a third set super tiebreaker. Nikita Agrawal and Miranda Daulong each picked up wins at No. 5 and No. 6 singles dropping just a game each.
