WINONA, Minn. – Winona State University Athletics is pleased to announce the 2025 Hall of Fame Class. This year's inductees are Scott Ballard, Alissa Rausch, Beckie Rolbiecki, Ashley Walker, Dan Walseth, and Brian Wrobel.
Scott Ballard, Coach: Ballard led Winona State women's basketball to heights never seen before. During his 18-year career with the Warriors from 2004-2022, Ballard took WSU to three NCAA Division II Tournaments, including the first-ever in program history in 2009. Ballard was named the NSIC Coach of the Year and the WBCA Central Region Coach of the Year in 2016. Within the Winona State record books, Ballard is first in wins (298), win percentage (.587), years coached (18), and games coaches (508). At the time of his retirement, Ballard ranked 13th among active NCAA DII coaches with 567 wins.
Alissa Rausch, Track & Field: Rausch was a standout for Winona State track and field from 2011-2015. During her career, Rausch earned four NSIC Championships and seven All-America honors while capping her career with a National Championship in the discus in 2015. Rausch's seven All-America honors came across five events: discus, indoor and outdoor shot put, hammer, and weight throw. During the 2015 outdoor season, Rausch set the Winona State record (55.92m) and the NSIC record (53.92m) in the discus with both records still being held today.
Beckie Rolbiecki, Coach: Rolbiecki rewrote the Winona State gymnastics record books from 2005-2020. The Warriors set their all-time team score and owned 33 of 40 all-time scores during Rolbiecki's tenure. Rolbiecki tutored 45 All-Americans, including 31 NCGA All-Americans, and two NCGA Individual National Champions. As a three-time WIAC Coach of the Year (2006, 2008, 2016), two-time Regional Coach of the Year (2008, 2016), and the 2016 NCGA National Coach of the Year, Rolbiecki led teams to the NCGA National competitions in 2008, 2009, 2010, and 2016.
Ashley Walker, Softball: Walker is one of the best two-way players in Winona State softball history. Throughout her career from 2012-2015, Walker held a .363 batting average, tallied 232 hits, garnered 23 home runs, and earned 61 career pitching victories. Walker holds a .813 career winning percentage in the circle with 313 strikeouts. Walker earned First Team All-NSIC honors, was a two-time NSIC All-Tournament Team member, named NFCA All-Region on two occasions, and collected an NSIC Gold Glove award. Behind Walker, the Warriors won back-to-back NSIC Tournament Championships and appeared in four straight NCAA Tournaments.
Dan Walseth, Baseball: Walseth made his mark in the Winona State baseball record book from his time in a Warrior uniform during 1983-1986. Walseth held a career batting average of .424 (2nd) with 157 RBIs (5th) and recorded 190 career hits (15th), 122 singles (17th), 38 doubles (10th), 12 triples (6th), and 18 home runs (15th). Walseth was a three-time all-conference honoree (1984, 1985, 1986), a two-time NAIA All-District (1985, 1986), and a two-time NAIA Honorable Mention All-American (1984, 1984). Walseth led WSU baseball to three NIC Championships (1984, 1985, 1986) and an NAIA District 13 Championship in 1985.
Brian Wrobel, Football: Wrobel was a key piece to Winona State football's success from 2001-2004. As a quarterback, Wrobel is in the WSU football record books for career touchdown passes (6th), pass attempts (13th), passing yards (13th), total offense (10th), and is first with 9.09 yards per pass attempt. Wrobel holds the record for most touchdown passes in a single game with six and is in the top 20 in six single-season categories. With Wrobel under center, Winona State made NCAA DII Playoff appearances in 2001 and 2003, and the Warriors earned conference championships in 2001, 2003, and 2004.
The honorees will be formally recognized at the 2025 Winona State Homecoming celebration over the weekend of October 24-26, 2025. The Hall of Fame Banquet will be held on Friday, October 24th at 5:00pm in the Kryzsko Commons Baldwin Lounge on the campus of Winona State University.
The Winona State Athletic Hall of Fame is established to pay tribute to, give deserved recognition to, and to enhance the school tradition by honoring outstanding former student-athletes, coaches, teams, and/or individuals providing meritorious service who have contributed significantly to the success of the University's Intercollegiate Athletic program.
