WINONA, Minn. - The Winona State University softball team will take on Augustana University in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Tournament championship game on Saturday, May 3 with first pitch set for 12 p.m. at Bowden Field in Sioux Falls, S.D.

Winona State defeated Minnesota State, Mankato in the NSIC Tournament semifinal, 5-2, with six hits, including three extra-base hits, and five RBIs. Augustana defeated Minnesota Duluth 8-2 to reach the championship game. The Vikings swept the Warriors in two close games earlier this season.

Winona State Notes: 

• The Warriors are currently 42-13 overall and finished the regular season with a 21-17 NSIC record to earn the third seed in the conference tournament.
• Sam Keller is leading the team with a .426 batting average, 49 runs, 72 hits, 19 doubles, four triples, .692 slugging percentage, 38 walks, a 1.218 OPS, and a .526 on base percentage. 
• Braelee Jodarski leads the way with 16 home runs and 50 RBIs. 
• Izzy Howe has 11 innings pitched in the NSIC Tournament earning eight strikeouts.
• Jayda Berg has pitched three innings in the NSIC Tournament collecting four strikeouts and the win against Minnesota State, Mankato. 
• Berg, Keller, Alyssa Woelfel, and Tiegan Mancuso each earned All-NSIC honors.
• Head coach Greg Jones earned his 1,000th career victory in a doubleheader sweep over Wayne State last weekend.
• The Warriors have won the NSIC Tournament a league-best seven times (1998, 2003, 2008, 2009, 2014, 2105, 2018).

Augustana Notes: 

• The Vikings are 45-9 overall and finished the regular season with a 25-3 NSIC record to earn the first seed in the conference tournament. 
• Desi Cuevas leads the team with a .386 batting average, 66 hits, 17 doubles, 12 home runs, 44 RBIs, .719 slugging percentage, and 1.176 OPS. 
• Andrea Cain leads the way with 58 runs, 29 walks, and a .467 on base percentage. 
• Cuevas also has 19 stolen bases on 23 attempts. 
• Lexi Landers has four innings pitched in the NSIC Tournament with five strikeouts and allowed one run. 
• Grace Glazer has pitched 10 innings in the NSIC Tournament collecting nine strikeouts and three earned runs. 

The winner of today's championship game will receive at automatic bid into the 2025 NCAA Division II Tournament.
