WAYNE, Neb. – The Winona State University baseball team lost in the final regular season contest on the road against Wayne State College 8-6.
The Warriors clawed away at the lead in the top of the seventh inning but were unable to answer back in the final at-bats of the game, granting Wayne State the victory.

Kaden Young got the Wildcats on the board first in the bottom of the second inning, crossing home plate on a fielding error. Wayne State scored three more runs in the bottom of the second with singles from Casey Prychak and Cam Madsen. WSC added two more runs to the lead in the bottom of the third with a solo home run from Taylor Gill and a single from Young. Winona State got on the board in the top of the fifth with
Alex Berreth watching a called ball four with the bases loaded, allowing
Josh Gullickson to cross home plate, and with a single from
Dylan Harer. Increasing the lead to four runs in the bottom of the sixth, Wayne State scored on a single from Braden Cannon. The Warriors brought the score to within one run in the top of the seventh when they scored three times, with
Easton Arendt scoring on a fielding error, a single from
Jess Ondell, and a single from Harer. In the bottom of the eighth, the Wildcats increased the lead to two runs with a sacrifice fly from Prychak. Winona State was unable to answer back in the final at-bats of the game, granting Wayne State the victory.
Individual Leaders:
- Harer led the Warriors in hits with three and in RBIs with three. Wesley Johnson led Winona State on the mound, pitching 5.0 innings and striking out three batters.
- Cannon led the Wildcats in hits with three. Prychak led the team in RBIs with three. Eli Crnkovich led Wayne State on the mound, pitching 2.0 innings and striking out three batters.
