WINONA, Minn. – Winona State gymnastics tallied the top score in each event and ran away with a team victory over UW-Eau Claire and Gustavus in the home opener.
The Warriors cracked the top 10 all-time records in four categories, including the sixth best team score ever with a 190.625. WSU recorded their ninth best bars score (47.200) and beam score (47.725) then closed out the night with a 48.275 on the floor for the sixth best score in program history.
Gabby Kraft led the way on the vault, scoring a 9.675 to win the event overall.
Irene Kearney (9.575) and
Jessica Miley (9.525) were right behind to sweep the podium for Winona State.
Kaylee Bateman performed another impressive routine on the bars, scoring a 9.675 to lead all gymnastics on the event. Miley finished third with a 9.600 to finished third.
Bateman led the Warriors on the beam and tied for first overall with a 9.750.
Harper Hamilton (9.700) and
Gabby Kraft (9.675) also finished in the top five.
Taylor Magierka scored a 9.750 with her floor routine, taking first place just ahead of teammate
Frankie Jo MacAskill who notched a 9.725. Miley came in third for another WSU podium sweep at 9.675.
Winona State returns to action on Friday, January 23rd at 6:00pm as they host UW-Stout for Parents Night.
