Jamestown, N.D. – The Winona State women's basketball team defeated the Jamestown Jimmies 76-66 on the road.
Winona State took an early lead, winning 20-12 after the first quarter. WSU found themselves ahead 36-27 at halftime and never looked back. The Warriors would finish the contest with a score of 76-66 in a big bounce back win.
How it Happened:
Winona State fell behind early after two successful three-point shots from Jamestown. After the first quarter, Winona state took an eight-point lead after some tough finished from their offense. Going into the second quarter, WSU took a 27-17-point lead after
Bria Stenstrom hit an electric three-pointer and a dry spout from the Jimmies offense. Once
Megan Schuman was successful on two free throws, the Warriors took one of their largest leads of the night making the score 32-19. Going into halftime, Winona State would have a comfortable 36-27-point lead.
To start the second half, WSU would go on a 10-point run to make the score 46-29 at the 6:20 mark in the third quarter. There was no looking back for Winona State as they would go into the final quarter of play with a 60-39-point lead. After a comfortable lead was established, WSU's players all started to thrive with nine of the Warriors players scoring points. Winona State would finish the game with a 76-66 point win and great bounce back game after their loss to Norther State.
