CROOKSTON, Minn. --- The Winona State soccer team battled Minnesota Crookston on Sunday afternoon ending in a 1-1 tie.
Winona State created several scoring opportunities early into the match.
Madison Barnick recorded a shot at the 5:12 mark that was saved by Golden Eagles goalkeeper Phoenix DeBrusk.
Kyleigh Jannisch added a pair of shot attempts, but both missed the target.
The Warriors continued to apply pressure to the Golden Eagles, with
Sam Perez taking a shot at the 22:07 mark but missed high. Jannich followed with a shot that was saved by DeBrusk, as WSU was looking to find the back of the net.
Minnesota Crookston eventually found the opening goal at the 36:54 mark, when Callie Holthaus scored to give the Golden Eagles a 1-0 advantage. Winona State continued to search for an equalizer but entered halftime trailing by one.

Abigail Rounds came up with key saves to keep the Golden Eagles from extending their lead, blocking shots from Aleisha Cortez and Lilly Oelrich. At the 62:06 mark the Warriors found their equalizer when Barnick converted a penalty kick to tie the game at 1-1.
The Warriors continued to apply pressure in the second half with
McKayla Paukner,
Faith Quinn, Jannisch creating scoring opportunities. Paukner and Jannisch each recorded shots on target, but DeBrusk made the saves to keep the game tied.
Winona State continued to search for a go-ahead goal late in the contest.
Jacey Sturek recorded a shot at the 85:27 mark minute, and shortly after at the 88:46 mark. Rounds made a save on a shot from Jillian Muehlberger to help maintain the draw. Neither team found the back of the net in the closing minute, and the contest ended in a 1-1 tie.

- The Warriors held a 12-3 advantage in shots and 7-4 advantage in shots on goal.
