WINONA, Minn. – The sixth-seeded Winona State women's basketball team will face No. 3 seed Minnesota Duluth in the quarterfinals of the 2026 NSIC Tournament in Sioux Falls, S.D. on Sunday, March 1st at 1:30pm.
After defeating the Minot State Beavers at home in the first round of the NSIC Tournament, Winona State will travel to the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls, S.D. where they will face third-seeded Minnesota Duluth. Winona State will be looking for their first NSIC Tournament quarterfinals win since the 2017-18 season.
No. 6 Winona State Notes:
- The Warriors finished the regular season with a 16-12 overall record and a 13-9 conference record and defeated the MISU Beavers in the first round of the NSIC Tournament, 70-49.
- Winona State is averaging 69.7 points per game while giving up 66.6 points per game and shooting 43.4% from the field.
- WSU is shooting 32.5% from three-point land and is making 7.2 three-point shots per game. The Warriors are also shooting 74.9% from the charity stripe.
- Hailey Markworth leads the team in points per game (16.0), rebounds per game (6.2) and steals per game (1.2). She also scored her 1,000th point in the first round game against MISU.
- Vivica Bretton is the leader in assists for the Warriors with a total of 98 this season.
- Sadie Jarmolowicz leads the Warriors in three pointers made with 65 while shooting 39.6% from behind the arc.
- Jarmolowicz and Markworth average 34.6 minutes per game and 33.1 respectively, leading the Warriors.
- Megan Schuman adds an average of 6.0 rebounds per team while also being a competitive scorer with 11.2 points per game.
No. 3 Minnesota Duluth Notes:
- Minnesota Duluth ended their regular season with a record of 19-7 and 17-5 in the NSIC. They received a bye in the opening round of the NSIC Tournament after receiving the three seed.
- Senior guard, Myra Moorjani leads the Bulldogs in points per game with 13.6 and is shooting .414 from the field.
- Senior forward, Lexi Karge leads UMD in rebounds per game with 5.3 and is shooting .385 from beyond the arc.
- As a team, UMD scores an average of 72.4 points per game and allows opponents to score 62.4.
The winner of Sunday's game will advance to the NSIC Tournament Semifinals on Monday, March 2nd at 1:30pm in Sioux Falls, held at the Sanford Pentagon.
