WINONA, Minn. – The Winona State University softball team will fly down to Viera, Fla. to play in the Space Coast Spring Games over spring break with their first game set for Friday, March 6th at 10:00am EST/9:00am CST against the University of Charleston.
The Warriors will take their annual spring trip to compete in The Space Coast Spring Games where WSU will play the University of Charleston, Davenport University, University of Findlay, Walsh University (OH), Gannon University, #11 University of Indianapolis, West Chester (PA), Nova Southeastern University, St. Thomas Aquinas College, and Florida Tech starting Friday, March 6th and going through Wednesday, March 11th.
Winona State Notes:
- The Warriors have started the 2026 season 13-2 after going 4-0 at the Midwest College Classic at the end of February.
- Bryn Elsenpeter leads Winona State in OPS (1.269), RBIs (15), and home runs (4) this season while batting .400.
- Jayda Berg and Izzy Howe have been the dynamic duo for the Warriors on the mound showcasing a combined record of 12-1 and ERAs of 1.23 and 1.94, respectively.
- Teigan Mancuso leads WSU with 19 hits in 43 at bats and has the highest batting average on the team with .442.
- Ava Smith (3), Braelee Jodarski (2), Indigo Fish (1), Jenna James (1), Ashlee Chantos (1), and Nicole Wienberger (1) are among all the Warriors with home runs this season.
- Alyssa Woelfel is a perfect 4-of-4 in stolen bases, leading Winona State.
Charleston Notes:
- University of Charleston has started the 2026 season with a 7-5 record after most recently splitting their home invitational 2-2 against Ohio Dominican and Ashland.
- The Golden Eagles are coached by Taylor Welch, who is entering her second season with UC and holds a 44-22 career record.
- UC is led by graduate student Kayla Moran who is batting .469 in 32 at bats with a OPS of 1.214 and one home run this season.
Davenport Notes:
- Davenport University has started the 2026 season with a 1-7 record after most recently losing 2-of-3 games against Bridgeport.
- The Panters are coached by Brad Koch, who is entering his first season with DU after coaching for Aquinas College for nine seasons.
- DU is led by senior Ally Prasnjak who is batting .474 in 19 at bats with an OPS of 1.249 with two doubles, one triple and four RBIs.
Findlay Notes:
- The University of Findlay has started the season 6-1 after most recently winning their first two games at the Space Coast Spring Games against St. Cloud State and Southern New Hampshire.
- The Oilers are coached by Danielle Lowe, who enters her 11th season with UF and holds a record of 286-183.
- UF is led by sophomore Meghan Heinsman who is batting .550 in 20 at bats with an OPS of 1.421 with four doubles, one triple and seven RBIs.
Walsh Notes:
- Walsh University has started the season 2-0 after most recently taking down UM – Dearborn and the University of Jamestown.
- The Cavaliers are coached by Katie Connell, who is entering her fifth season with WU.
- WU is led by senior Laney Ferrance who is batting .667 in three at bats and an OPS of 1.334.
Gannon Notes:
- Gannon University has started the season 2-2 after most recently splitting the Glenville State Tournament 2-2.
- The Golden Knights are coached by Michelle Wiley, who enters her eighth season with GU. They are coming off a hot 29-19 season in 2025.
- GU is led by junior Emma Smerick who is batting .467 in 15 at bats with an OPS of 1.633 with three home runs and 17 total bases.
#11 Indianapolis Notes:
- The University of Indianapolis has started the season 13-1 and is currently ranked #11 in the NFCA week 3 polls.
- The Grey Hounds are coached by Melissa Frost, who enters her 22nd season with UIndy and holds an 875-311 record.
- UIndy is led by sophomore Brooklyn Willis who is batting .426 in 54 at bats with an OPS of 1.212 with 23 hits and three home runs.
West Chester Notes:
- West Chester University has started the season 0-4 after falling in two double headers to Fairmont State and Barton College.
- The Golden Rams are coached by Diane Lokey, who enters her 23rd season and holds a 702-434-1 record.
- WCU is led by senior Emma Zoldi who is batting .400 in 10 at bats with a 1.055 OPS and has two doubles with six RBIs.
Nova Southeastern Notes:
- Nova Southeastern University has started the season 9-11 after most recently 6-of-8 games in their February trip to Florida.
- The Sharks are coached by Julie Lemaire, who enters her 11th season with NSU and holds a 328-221 record.
- NSU is led by senior Destiny Lewis who is batting .344 in 61 at bats with an OPS of 1.080 and has hit four home runs with five doubles and two triples.
St. Thomas Aquinas Notes:
- St. Thomas Aquinas College has started the season 0-2 after most recently dropping a double header to East Stroudsburg.
- The Spartans are coached by Kristen Sullivan, who enters her 13th season with STAC and is coming off a 31-21 2025 season.
- STAC is led by Olivia Leon who is batting .667 in six at bats with a OPS of 1.333 with one home run and one double.
Florida Tech Notes:
- Florida Tech has started the season 11-3-1 after most recently going on a five-game win streak against Palm Beach Atlantic and Florida Southern.
- The Panthers are coached by Val Silvestrini, who enters her 17th season with FTU.
- FTU is led by junior Emma Chisholm who is batting .451 in 51 at bats with an OPS of 1.402 and holds 21 RBIs and a staggering seven home runs.
