WINONA, Minn. – The Winona State baseball team completed the three-game sweep against Wayne State with a 13-3 win on Sunday's NSIC single game.
It was all Warriors in this game, as WSU put up eight runs in the first inning behind six hits. Winona State cruised to a 13-3 victory in eight innings.

The Warriors came out with a bang in the bottom of the first inning.
Jack Funke started the party with a two-RBI single, plating
Dylan Harer and
Payton Kohnle.
Max Pederson followed that up with an RBI double to bring home
Easton Arendt, making it 3-0. In the next at-bat,
Klayton Hawkins hit a three-run moon shot over the right field wall, bringing the WSU lead to 6-0. In Kohnle's second plate appearance of the inning, he singled, scoring
Connor Greuel, making it 7-0. Harer ended the huge inning with an RBI single, plating Kohnle, ending the frame 8-0.
The Wildcats clawed back to an 8-3 deficit with a three-run homer to center field in the second inning. In the bottom of the sixth, a sacrifice fly from Harer made it 9-3 WSU. Funke hit an RBI single, scoring Arendt, extending the Warriors lead to 10-3.
Winona State enlarged their advantage to 12-3 after
Garrett Hietpas crossed home on a Harer single.
Cayden Mueller walked it off in the bottom of the eighth on an RBI single, completing the sweep of the Wildcats.
Harer led the bats with three hits and three RBIs. Funke and Hawkins each added three RBIs apiece in the dominant 13-3 win. Funke, Kohnle, and Pederson all recorded multi-hit games.
Hunter Guenther (4-2) picked up the win, going 7.0 innings, allowing three earned runs on four hits. Guenther tallied eight strikeouts in the win.
Peyton Lee tossed a scoreless eighth inning.
Winona State (20-19, 15-11 NSIC) stays at home for a mid-week doubleheader against Minnesota State on Wednesday, April 22. First pitch is slated for 1:30pm at Loughrey Field.
