WINONA, Minn. – The Winona State women's soccer team lost to the UW-Parkside Rangers 4-1 in the 2026 season opener.
The Warriors went down 2-0 in the first half with a UWP goal coming in late in the first half. The Rangers found themselves scoring two quick goals in the second half and an own goal to make the final score 4-1.
How it Happened:
UW-Parkside opened the scoring at the 32:18-minute mark in the first half to give the Rangers a 1-0 lead. With half-time on the horizon UWP was able to capitalize in the 44th minute, scoring with only 35 seconds remaining in the first half. Mary Leininger would score both goals for the Rangers to start the game.
In the second half, UW-Parkside would start off hot finding the back of the net at the 53:46 time stamp and again shortly after in the 58th minute. Winona State was able to get on the board after an own goal by UWP in the 78th minute to make the final score 4-1 in favor on UW-Parkside.
